Interrupted Ramblings…

I need to speak my peace!

DigiWaxx Gives Love + On The Path of Recovery

Each week Digiwaxx.com sends out DJ’s Top 5 that were posted on my other website, Fusicology.com. This week I was tagged for a post I did at the end of 2009. These are still in rotation but it’s all good when you revisit.

If you have followed my show since its inception April of 2006, you have known that I have encountered various issues with my left wrist, arm and shoulder. This has hampered my consistency to produce podcasts or random mixes as I’ve done in the past. During the summer of 2009 the situation became unbearable so I went to an orthopedic doctor to find out what was going on. After enduring three months of physical therapy and one MRI later, a torn posterior labrum in my shoulder was the result of the pain. Over the years I have compensated for it without realizing it. I tried everything (even acupuncture which I love) to resolve this before seeing a surgeon.

The Tuesday after Labor Day I underwent a very successful surgery. The path of recovery has been extremely tough. It has taken almost seven months to move my arms above my head, pull my hair back, get dressed, cook, DJ, etc. A lot of this took it’s toll on me because I was unable to do a lot of the things I love. I am almost at the seven month mark and I am excited to get back to normal.

I completed a mix two weeks ago but with the relaunching of Fusicology.com (within the next two weeks) I have not had time to drop the vocals over the show. Stay tuned for it within the next 48 hours.

I want to thank you guys for all of the well wishes via email, Twitter and Facebook. Most of all, thank you for sticking around to listen.

A Ton Of Nerd Stuff

Deep Soul Sessions has new digs.  In order to make changes and provide a better podcast, I  had to move servers.  Now that is complete, there will be a ton of new stuff added to the site and most importantly, new podcasts.  If you have any suggestions, please post them here.

Dedication Podcast – Deep Soul Sessions

In the past I have dropped a straight hour or two of [tag]podcasts[/tag] featuring some of my favorite DJs/Producers:

[tag]Louie Vega[/tag]
[tag]Osunlade[/tag]
[tag]Franck Rogers[/tag]
[tag]Quentin Harris[/tag]
[tag]Rasmus Faber[/tag]

I’ve also been awarded a few new listeners who send a host of requests, I want to know, who would you like to see showcased?  The highest number of votes will get an ultimate [tag]Deep Soul Sessions[/tag] throwdown.

Coming up next, “NUFF SAID”… the [tag]Deep Soul Sessions[/tag] long lost mix that I originally started as the Quentin Harris showcase.  I ended up doing it again but with a whole new first hour playlist, which is what you got as the “Memorial Day Madness” mix.  This one is right out of the gate bangin….

If You Were A DJ…

I recently suffered the loss of my grandmother who was extremely close to me. She had been suffering from dementia for eight years and after further research on this disease, I realized that she had lived around the average lifespan associated with that disease. I felt like my world was coming down on me until I started playing music a few nights after she died. It was almost 2:30 in the morning before I retired for the night. I then realized, as a DJ, how music can effect everyone differently.

I ended up on a road trip to Chicago recently and on the way back to Detroit, we listened to about three cd’s it changed the mood of the whole trip. Again music can be the catalyst for so many emotions, so I got to thinking, if you were a DJ, what would you play?

If at this very moment you were behind the table and you have to play a song that described what you were feeling, what would it be?

Today…it would be …Beautiful – India.Aire
